KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 29 — Wanita Umno’s ‘Skuad Sayang’ and Wanita Barisan Nasional (BN) managed to collect about 10,000 boxes of dates and sanitary napkin to be distributed to flood victims in the East Coast.

Wanita Umno and Wanita BN chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said these items will be send to the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) to be delivered to the affected villagers.

“In addition to these two items, we will also distribute disposable diapers for children and adults, lingerie, fast food like sardine, noodles and drinking water.

“We also appeal to people to donate goods and clothing for men because right now there are many who have given baju kurung,” she told reporters while packing various items at Level 4, Menara Dato’ Onn, Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) here today.

Shahrizat said they would also deploy 200,000 members of the Wanita ‘Squad Sayang’ nationwide to help distribute goods to victims and to offer other assistance.

Wanita Umno ‘Skuad Sayang’ and Wanita BN launched ‘Misi Sayang’ to gather cash and essentials for the flood victims, last Thursday, aimed to ease the burden of flood victims in several states that were hit by the floods.

“We trust the Armed Forces to pick up and deliver all the items to flood victims once every two days,” she said.

Meanwhile, Shahrizat said she agreed with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission and the police to take legal action against individuals who spread false news about the floods. — Bernama
