SINGAPORE, Dec 29 — All mosques in Singapore, in collaboration with Rahmatan Lil Alamin Foundation (RLAF), is organising a special fund drive in aid of victims of the devastating floods in neighbouring Malaysia.

The floods, which has seen heavy downpour in the states of Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan, have spread to many states in Malaysia and inundated many cities.

More than 160,000 people have sought shelter in flood relief centres.

The floods, the worst in over three decades, have also caused damage and loss to properties and livelihood for many.

In the spirit of a good neighbour, mosques in Singapore would like to extend a hand of support to those devastated by the floods.

Mosques in Singapore will collect funds to extend relief aid in the form of food, clean water, medicine and basic necessities most needed by the affected population.

To this end, donation boxes will be placed in all 68 mosques starting Monday to Friday (January 2, 2015).

The boxes will be marked “Special Collection for Victims of Malaysian Floods”.

In the meantime, the Singapore Muslim community prays that the population affected by the floods will be given the strength and resilience to face these difficult moments.

They also offer prayers for a speedy end to the floods and for life to return to normal as soon as possible. — Bernama
