The body of Nur Hayati Sulong, 37, was found at 4.25pm by the search-and-rescue team about 700 metres from where the couple had fallen into the floodwaters in Kampung Geliga Che Akob, said Terengganu Fire and Rescue Department deputy director Nor Mahathir Mohamad.

Her husband, Suhaimi Awang, also 37, has yet to be found.

The first casualty of the floods was a 14-year-old girl, Nurrashidah Baharuddin, who drowned in Sungai Kesom after she slipped and fell into the river near Kampung Kesom Che Nordin, Manir, in Kuala Terengganu yesterday. — Bernama
