Five cars trapped in flash floods along Jalan Ipoh

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 26 ― Incessant heavy rain in this capital city last night caused flash floods at a stretch along Jalan Ipoh in front of the Bank Rakyat branch in Sentul, trapping five cars in the floodwaters, according to the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department.

No one was injured in the incident which occurred about 10.30pm, Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department director Khirudin Drahman said today.

He said the department was notified of the floods at 10.45 pm and rushed a team of fire and rescue personnel there.

“The team found that the floodwaters had risen up to the level of the road divider and trapped five cars,” he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, posts on Twitter at Informasi Bencana @PortalBencana and PBanjir KL @PBanjirKL reported flash floods in several other areas of Kuala Lumpur.

Informasi Bencana @PortalBencana reported flash floods at Kg Padang Balang near the Sungai Gombak at 12.12am, which receded almost an hour later. 

PBanjir KL @PBanjirKL reported flash floods at Kg Puah, Jalan Tun Razak near the Perkim building, Jalan Rahmat, Jalan Sentul Manis and Jalan Ipoh.

The reports said the floodwaters receded within the hour. ― Bernama
