KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 25 — Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today gave his assurance that he is overseeing relief efforts for the chronic floods in Malaysia’s east coast during Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s absence.
Muhyiddin also urged the public to put their faith in his handling of the ongoing floods, saying that the government was in full control of the crisis."When he is away, I'm running the country," said the deputy prime minister.
"Have trust in me at the moment there is no need for him (Najib) to come back. If I can't do the job, I'll call him to come back."
Malaysians took social media today to criticise Najib for being absent from the country while Malaysia’s east coast states is experiencing severe floods.
Angry messages flooded the prime minister's Facebook page, with most calling for Najib to cancel his holiday abroad and return home to oversee flood relief efforts after it was reported that over 100,000 people have been forced from their homes throughout Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and parts of Perak.
