12,629 evacuated as floods worsen in Terengganu

KUALA TERENGGANU, Dec 23 — The flood situation in Terengganu continued to worsen as the number of evacuees increased from 12,403 in the afternoon to 12,629 in the evening (7pm).   

According to a report from the Terengganu National Security Council (NSC), the most number of victims affected was in Kemaman (5,657) and Kuala Terengganu (2,895). 

Dungun recorded 2,654 flood victims, Hulu Terengganu (811), Besut (499), Marang (91) and Setiu (22).  

However, the number of flood relief centres in Terengganu was reduced from 93 in the afternoon to 92 in the evening as 7 in Besut, Dungun (20), Hulu Terenggganu (13), Kuala Terengganu (11), Marang and Setiu (2 each), remained open. — Bernama
