KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 9 — The public can witness the Geminids meteor shower this Saturday (December 13) and Sunday (December 14) night here.
The Malaysian National Space Agency (Angkasa) in a statement today said the meteor shower had begun on December 3 and was likely to continue till December 17, hitting its peak this weekend.
“However this year, their appearance would be somewhat limited because it coincides with the full moon phase,” the statement said.
According to the statement, the best time to see the meteor shower was from 8pm till midnight, and no special equipment was required because it could be seen by the naked eye.
Angkasa also advised the public to choose clear spaces which were not obstructed by buildings and trees like the beachfront and fields, albeit making sure they stayed in groups and informed authorities about their whereabouts.
For more information, the public can visit Angkasa’s website at www.angkasa.gov.my, or its Facebook and Twitter pages. — Bernama
