SINGAPORE, Dec 7 — The bodies of Yusof Masrong, 49, and Ramu Kotiah, 50, who were among the four Malaysians killed in the hostel fire in Geylang early Saturday, have been released to the next-of-kin, said Malaysia’s Deputy High Commissioner to Singapore Kamsiah Kamaruddin.

Yusof was from Kg Ulu Bungin, Staoh, Sibu in Sarawak while Ramu was from Ipoh, Perak.

Yusof’s body will be flown to Sibu tomorrow evening.

In the incident on Saturday, four Malaysians died and eight others were injured after a fire broke out at a shophouse cum hostel in Lorong 4, Geylang.

The other two who died were Jubitol Rumanjing, 37, and Maslan Musundo, 43, who were from Kg Mangkapon, Pitas in Sabah.

Their bodies will be flown to Kota Kinabalu tomorrow evening.

Meanwhile one more victim, Muslin Masundo is currently at the intensive care unit ward of the Singapore General Hospital.

Muslin, who is also the brother of Maslan Masundo, has 35 per cent burns in his chest and hands.

His next of kin has already visited him.

According to Kamsiah, the High Commission had rendered counsellor assistance to all the victims’ families. — Bernama
