Thai PM Prayuth makes first official visit to Malaysia tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 30 — The Prime Minister of Thailand General Prayuth Chan-ocha will make an official visit to Malaysia tomorrow.

A statement issued by the Foreign Affairs Ministry said it was his first visit to Malaysia after being appointed as the prime minister of Thailand last August 25.

General Prayuth will be accompanied by a 19-member delegation comprising Thailand’s deputy prime minister, minister of foreign affairs, minister of defence, deputy minister of defence, commander-in-chief of the army, deputy minister of transport and other senior officials.

“The purpose of the visit is to build rapport with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and take stock of the progress of the existing bilateral relations between the two countries,” said the statement.

The visit will provide the opportunity for both sides to explore ways to further strengthen the existing cooperation between the two countries in various areas such as the Southern Thailand peace dialogue process, trade and investment, infrastructure connectivity projects along the border areas, transportation and education.

During the visit, General Prayuth is scheduled to hold a closed-door meeting followed by a delegation meeting with Najib and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor will host an official luncheon in honour of General Prayuth and the Thai delegation. — Bernama
