Light aircraft veers off Kota Bharu runway but pilot safe

KOTA BHARU, Dec 1 — A light aircraft that was on a training flight skidded upon landing at the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport (LTSIP), in Pengkalan Chepa here, today.

LTSIP manager Ramzi Ahmad said the 37-year-old pilot of the Piper 9M-NRS aircraft however, suffered only minor injuries during the 9.15am incident.

“The pilot was safe but the aircraft was damaged. We leave it to the Department of Civil Aviation take the follow up action,” he told reporters here, today.

He said the aircraft was believed to have gone off the runway during landing.

Ramzi said the operation at the airport went on as normal after the aircraft was removed from the location, two hours after the incident. — Bernama
