SHAH ALAM, Nov 26 ― Residents from Templer Park are demanding that Selangor Mentri Besar Azmin Ali block plans to rezone a 78.8-ha site at club in Templer Park that will allow the construction of a RM1.2 billion high-end residential and commercial project.
In a small protest outside of the Selangor state assembly today, a dozen residents and members of the Perangsang Templer Golf Club (PTGC) claimed that both the state government and the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) have ignored their pleas so far.
“The objective of this demonstration is to maintain the current environment and to preserve it.
“The construction would mean a loss of recreational space for over 1,633 PGTC members and residents of the Templer area,” PTGC commitee member Azizul Rahman Abd Wahab told reporters here.
Azizul pointed out that a similar demonstration took place last year in October in front of MPS building over the matter, but failed to gain an official response.
“We want YAB Azmin Ali to take action... we want the area to remain as it is,” Azizul added.
The PTGC site was previously gazetted as an open space that permitted for commercial use and utilities.
