KUCHING, Nov 25 — One more victim of last Saturday's coal mine explosion in Selantik, Pantu, near Sri Aman, died at 6.30pm today while receiving treatment at the Intensive-Care Unit of the Sarawak General Hospital here.
The victim was identified as Ahmad Zidin from Central Java, Indonesia, bringing the number of fatalities in the explosion to four.
Sarawak Health director, Datuk Dr Zulkifli Jantan when confirming the death, said the victim died from serious injury to his brain in the incident.
The victim's remains were brought to the HUS mortuary at about 8.30pm for a post-mortem.
The victim's brother-in-law, Rohadi when met at the mortuary, said the victim who started working at the coal mine one year ago, left a wife and a nine-year-old daughter.
In the coal-mine explosion last Saturday, three foreign workers perished and 30 others were injured.
Those killed were North Korean Pang Chung Hyok, 29, Myanmar national Tun Tun Win, 36, and an Indonesian, Kardianto, 38.
This afternoon, the Royal Malaysian Air Force made mercy flights to ferry six victims who were seriously injured in the incident to the specialist hospitals in Terengganu, Kelantan, Kedah, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. — Bernama
