GEORGE TOWN, Nov 17 — Police have notified all clinics and hospitals to be on the lookout for anybody seeking post-natal treatment, following the case of a newborn baby boy found on top of a factory worker’s car.

“We hope anyone who was approached by the woman for such treatment will inform us,” said Southwest district deputy police chief Siti Nor Salawati Saad.

Nor Salawati said police were awaiting the results of a DNA test to determine the baby’s race.

“We should know this within the next few days.”

Nor Salawati said the baby would be handed over to the state Welfare Service Department pending release from the hospital.

On Saturday at 4.30am, factory worker Muhammad Hafiz Ishak found the baby on his car in Kampung Bukit after returning home from work.

The boy was wrapped in a bedsheet and was believed to have just been born because he still had his umbilical cord intact.

Hafiz took the baby to Bayan Lepas police station, where he lodged a report.
