JINJANG, Oct 27 — Malaysian police shot dead a man yesterday after he attempted to rob an Internet cafe in Taman Fadason in Jinjang with a fake gun.
Two police officers had followed the suspect, who was wearing a full-faced helmet and riding an unregistered motorcycle to an Internet cafe, the Star reported.
One of the officers entered the cafe pretending to be a customer. The man entered the cafe and pointed a gun, which was later found to be fake, at the cafe’s cashier, the Star reported.
The officer revealed his identity to the robber, who then pointed the gun at the officer, the Rakyat Post reported. The officer then opened fire at the man, killing him on the spot.
Police recovered some Malaysian and Indonesian currency and an Indonesian passport from the suspect’s bag, the Star reported. — Reuters
