SHAH ALAM, Oct 2 — Four men, including a teachers, have been arrested by the police on suspicion of planting cannabis behind a house in Kampung Melayu, Sungai Buloh.
Selangor Narcotics CID chief ACP Md Tahir Kasim said the suspects, aged between 34 and 45, were in the house and high on drugs when police arrested them at 3.30 pm two days ago.
Police also recovered 31 cannabis plants behind the house, he added.
He said police raided the house following a tip off on cannabis plants being grown in pots and plastic bags behind the house.
Police also searched the house and found 622 grammes of cannabis leaves and seeds, as well as some drug paraphernalia, and 292 grammes of compressed cannabis that were found hidden in a car on the premise, he added.
The four suspects are in remand until Tuesday for investigation under Section 6B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and also Section 39B of the same law, which carries the death sentence upon conviction.
In another development, police seized 2.24 kilogramme of heroin and arrested two men, aged 50 and 57, at a shopping center in Sunway, Petaling Jaya, last Tuesday night.
The drug, worth RM47,000, was found in a sling bag carried by one of the suspects, he added. — Bernama
