KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 — The resit of Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) papers for four subjects which leaked must be held to preserve the credibility and integrity of the examination.

The Malaysian Examinations Board (MEB) said the move was made after receiving the views of several quarters related to the resit of the Science, English, Mathematics and Tamil subjects.

“The MEB understands the difficulties by all parties specifically the pupils and parents involved and have taken the necessary measures to prevent a recurrence,” it said in a statement today.

This includes taking firm action without compromise against any quarters responsible for leaking the question papers.

It said candidates who did not resit the papers for the four subjects would not be given a grade but would be recorded as ‘T” or absent.

This is in line with the examination regulation that candidates must sit for all the examination papers for each of the subjects.

The MEB had fixed September 30 as the new date for the English paper 014/1 and 014/2 and Science papers 018, 028 and 038.

The new date for the resit Mathematics (015/1, 025/1, 035/1) and Tamil (036 and 037) tests is on October 9.

A total 472,853 pupils nationwide would have to resit for the four subjects this year. — Bernama
