GEORGE TOWN, Sept 27 — Police have instructed the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to block the circulation of several pictures of a half-naked woman alleged to be a police constable, which has gone viral on the Internet and WhatsApp over the past few days.

Penang Police deputy chief Datuk A. Thaiveegan said the police had recorded the statement from the female constable and were in the midst of tracking down several other individuals concerning the case.

“The constable has lodged a report denying that the woman in the pictures was her. It looked like her, but it was not her. I have asked for further investigation to be done,” he told reporters after opening a seminar titled Teenagers and Free Sex: Effects and Consequences here today.

He said the police would work closely with the MCMC to locate the individuals responsible for initiating the circulation and that the case was being investigated under Section 500 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998.

The female constable lodged a police report yesterday after being alerted by her friends that several half-naked pictures allegedly of her had been circulating over the Internet and WhatApps over the past few days. — Bernama
