SUNGAI PETANI, Sept 23 — A man was charged at the Magistrate Court here today with murdering a five-year-old boy, who is also the son of his girlfriend last month.

Mohd Zamri Daud, 42, a rubber tapper, was accused of committing the murder of Mohamad Fazrin Md Shukri at an unnumbered house in Kampung Sungai near here, at around 11am on August 11.

Mohd Zamri appeared calm and nodded in understanding when the charge was read out to him before Magistrate Intan Nurul Farena Zainal Abidin.

No plea was recorded.

The charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code provides a death penalty upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Syarifah Syazwani Syed Hussin prosecuted, while Mohd Zamri was not represented.

The court fixed November 4 for the remention of the case pending post mortem report. — Bernama
