KUALA BERANG, Sept 19 ― The Defence Ministry is working with the Youth and Sports Ministry to restructure and improve the modules of the National Service Training Programme (PLKN), Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said today.

He said the changing landscape of the world demanded an out-of-the-box approach and the fresh content for the existing modules should be appropriate to meet new threats.

 The dissemination of uncensored information and sensitive issues of a racial nature undermined the future of the young people, he told a news conference after opening the Hulu Terengganu Umno Division delegates meeting in Jenagor near here.

Hishammuddin said that as such it was necessary for the relevant authorities such as the National Service Training Department (JLKN) and the National Service Training Council (MLKN) to play their appropriate roles.

He also said that it was hoped that more ministries would join the two ministries in their discussions so as to have more touch points.

Asked about a proposal by Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Jailani Johari to locate another PLKN camp in Hulu Terengganu, Hishammuddin said he would look into it and would give the approval if there was a need.

Jailani, who is the Hulu Terengganu Umno Division chief and Terengganu Umno Liaison Committee deputy chairman, had made the proposal in his speech earlier. ― Bernama
