TNB to stop cheque payments for other utility bills effective October 1
Malay Mail

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 16 — Effective October 1, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) will cease to accept cheques for payment of Telekom Malaysia, water and local authorities’ bills.

This involves all TNB payment kiosks and counters.

TNB Senior General Manager (Corporate Affairs and Communications) Datuk Mohd Aminuddin Mohd Amin said the move to stop accepting cheques for other utility bills was due to the increasing number of fraud cases.

“However, we will still accept payment by cheque for TNB bills,” he said in a statement today.

The statement said clients must write the TNB account number (14 digits) behind the crossed cheque for payment to “Tenaga Nasional Berhad”.

Payment will only be valid once the cheque is cleared. — Bernama
