Police say suspect identified in Melaka UiTM student stabbing case

MELAKA, Sept 11 — Police have identified the main suspect in the stabbing of a Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) student during a robbery, in Lendu, 26km from here, yesterday.

Alor Gajah District acting police chief DSP Abd Rahman Jid said police were looking for the suspect, a car repossessor in his 30s, to help investigations.

“The suspect from Melaka escaped in a car after the incident. We believe he is still in the state,” he told Bernama when contacted here, today.

In the meantime, he said two youths, aged 16 and 20, believed to be his accomplices, had been remanded for seven days from today to help investigations.

In the 5.30am incident, Siti Irina Ridzwan, 20, a Mass Communication student at the Alor Gajah campus, was stabbed when she screamed and tried to fight a suspect who pressed down on her while she was fast asleep.

The incident took place in a room on the first floor of the Dimensi Flats in Lendu.

Siti Irina, of Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan was stabbed six times on the chest and hand with a knife. — Bernama
