KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 3 — Troubled Malaysia Airlines (MAS) courted new controversy by promoting a bucket list competition in Australia and New Zealand in which entrants may win flight tickets and iPads, according to media reports in Australia.

The competition would have been just another marketing stunt if not for the twin disasters suffered by the national carrier this year, killing over 537 people. 

Everyone on board flights MH17 and MH370 are believed to be dead.

While MH17 was shot down over Ukrainian airspace, MH370 simply went missing from the skies and has not been found in what is called one of the greatest mysteries of modern aviation.

The bucket list means a wish-list of things to do before one dies.

The competition has since been withdrawn.

The airline has been having trouble filling seats after the twin tragedies this year exacerbating several successive years of losses. It is now being taken over by the Malaysian government at a cost of billions of ringgit.
