KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 29 — In efforts to save Malaysia’s national carrier, Khazanah Nasional is mooting a RM6 billion “rehabilitation” plan, which includes trimming the workforce by 30 per cent and shifting its operations from Subang Jaya to one hub at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, according to a report by StarBiz Online today.
The state wealth fund, which holds a 70 per cent share in the ailing airline, will form a new company, the business section of daily The Star reported, citing sources just minutes ahead of a news conference on Malaysia Airlines’s (MAS) restructuring.
MAS chief executive Ahmad Jauhari Yahya is to stay on until the end of June next year, the report said, adding that Khazanah will be hunting for a new CEO to helm the new company.
