KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 29 — The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) will always support Malaysia Airlines (MAS) to help overcome the losses it is incurring.
Its president Hamzah Rahmat said Matta members would continue to use the service of MAS as the main transportation when carrying out promotions and selling international tourism packages.
“MAS has long been the national flight icon. As such, we feel it is necessary to continue helping MAS in facing this difficult period,” he said when contacted by Bernama here, today.
He said Matta was confident MAS would recover and capable of carrying out its operation despite experiencing losses.
Yesterday, MAS announced losses before taxation for the second quarter ending June 30, 2014 that went up to RM302.62 million compared to RM165.89 million during the same period last year.
MAS also informed the Malaysian Bourse that its income had dropped five per cent to RM3.59 billion compared to RM3.78 billion prior to this following the factor of revenue and seats which were lower after the flight MH370 tragedy. — Bernama
