TAWAU, Aug 26 — The police cannot work to ensure peace and security without the cooperation of the community, said state Crime Prevention and Community Safety (CPCS) chief SAC Hamdan Majid.
“The community and police must strengthen the existing rapport and continue working towards preventing crime,” he said while launching a crime prevention programme at the district police headquarters here today.
Hamdan noted that there was no other more relevant and effective way to fight crime than with public cooperation and the people’s confidence in the police.
He said police would strive to serve their best, while the community must also change their perception that crime prevention and maintaining public order were the sole responsibility of the former. — Bernama
