As such, the association said there was no timeline for the family members to file their claims.

“The claims which are due to them will be held on by the insurance company and will be processed once they submit the claim form,” the association said in a statement.

The insurance company or the agents would attempt to contact the beneficiaries or the next-of-kin of victims of MH17 and MH370 to advise them to submit their claims, the association said.

A contact point had been set up by the association where family members could check on the life insurance policies taken by the loved one.

“So far, there have been no cases whereby the family members are not aware of the insurance policy,” it said.

It added life insurance companies would need the family members to submit the application for payment of claims before the claims could be processed.

LIAM president Vincent Kwo had been reported as saying RM7.1 million in compensation had yet to be claimed by the next-of-kin of victims of the MH370 and MH17 tragedies.
