SEPANG, Aug 21 — The authorities will ensure that all roads are clear to ensure a smooth ceremony to honour the victims of MH17 as their remains are brought tomorrow, said Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.

He said the affected roads will be managed by the police and he urged the public to give their cooperation out of respect for the victims.

“We realise the roads are congested especially on Friday, and we want the traffic to flow smoothly,” he told a news conference after a MH17 Tragedy Repatriation Ceremony Coordination Committee meeting at the Bunga Raya Complex, KLIA, here today.

The news conference was also attended by Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai and Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim.

Meanwhile, Rohani said 120 next-of-kin will be present at the ceremony including five who will arrive from Amsterdam at 6am tomorrow.

“We ask media personnel not to interview the family members to respect their wish for privacy while the ceremony is being held.”

She said Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will wait for the remains of Mohd Ali Md Salim in Pagoh while she and Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof will send the remains of Ariza Ghazalee and Muhammad Afif Tambi to Kuching on a Charlie aircraft.
