KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 15 — Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim said today that the Selangor Sultan is “satisfied” that during the duo’s meeting on Monday, he had spoken the truth about still commanding the confidence of the assembly.

Khalid said in his latest correspondence with the Sultan, he was also instructed to refrain from making any decision on his mentri besar post until the latter returns this August 27.

“I have communicated with His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor the latest political developments in the state, including the sentiments of the members of the state assembly.

“His Royal Highness said he is satisfied that I did have the majority support of the state assemblymen on the day I briefed him on Monday, August 11,” Khalid said in a brief media statement.

“His Royal Highness subsequently requested that I refrain from making any decision or announcement regarding my post as mentri besar until he returns this August 27 and meets with me.”

Khalid also “advised” those who have accused him of misleading the Sultan on his level of support in the House to write in to the ruler directly for an explanation.

Yesterday, DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang told Khalid to do the “honourable” thing and quit his post, insisting the leader had not spoken the truth when he met the Sultan on Monday to explain his position.

Khalid was sacked last Saturday by the PKR leadership for his open defiance of his party’s bid to remove him from government.

The leader then sought an audience with the Sultan where he claimed that he still commands the confidence of the 56-seat state assembly, despite his sacking.

Yesterday, 30 Pakatan Rakyat (PR) assemblymen declared their support for PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to replace Khalid in the mentri besar seat.

But Khalid scoffed at their show of support, saying despite the numbers, he is still mentri besar.

Since his sacking from PKR, Khalid has fired five of six PKR and DAP state executive councillors. The sixth PKR exco member resigned yesterday ahead of her imminent sacking order.

Khalid is now running a lean administration with just four excos from PAS who have declared they will serve the mentri besar until and unless their party leadership decides during its meeting this Sunday that they should no longer support him.
