SHAH ALAM, Aug 14 — DAP’s Datuk Teng Chang Khim started clearing out his state executive council office today, but said he wants Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim to do the same as the mentri besar no longer has the majority support of Selangor’s 56 assemblymen.
The sacked state executive councillor told reporters that he returned his official car this morning, and has briefed his staff on the latest developments.
“Today, I have to start doing my packing now. I have to pack my office...I had a briefing with my staff today.
“All these arrangements need to be made,” he told reporters when met at the state secretariat building here.
Teng maintained that Khalid should step down as Selangor mentri besar following the declaration made earlier today by 30 Selangor state lawmakers that they no longer support his leadership, as it was the “honourable” thing to do.
“The most honourable thing to do is to call for (the state assembly) seating.
“No valid reason for him to wait till November,” added Teng.
Teng, along with four other PKR and DAP excos were sacked on Tuesday for purportedly undermining Khalid’s position as state mentri besar.
The five initially defied the sacking order by turning up to work the following day but later relented, saying they would accept the decision, which was sanctioned by the Selangor Sultan.
At present, Khalid’s administration only comprises himself and his four remaining exco members from PAS, which the mentri besar said is the minimum requirement to run the government, according to the state constitution.
