Najib confident of Indonesia's progress under Jokowi

KUALA LUMPUR, July 24 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak expressed confidence that Indonesia will continue to progress and prosper under the leadership of Joko Widowo and his running mate, Jusuf Kalla.

Najib, in a statement today, also congratulated them for their victory in the republic’s presidential election which was held last July 9.

“With the existing close relationship and cooperation between the two countries, I am confident bilateral ties between Malaysia and Indonesia will continue to be further strengthened for peace and prosperity of our countries and people,” he said.

Jokowi, who is the governor of Jakarta, and running mate, Jusuf Kalla, won the presidential election by obtaining 70,990,832 votes or 53.15 per cent of the total 133,567,276 votes.

Their rival, Prabowoo Subianto and his running mate, Hatta Rajasa, garnered 62,576,444 votes or 46.85 per cent. — Bernama
