Anifah and his delegation left KL International Airport (KLIA) at about 12.30am today.

He is expected to meet Ukrainian leaders on the crash of MH17 in Donetsk, eastern Ukraine on Thursday, to ensure efforts to facilitate the recovery operation proceed smoothly.

“Let me have the discussions first and I will provide updates later. Let’s hope for a positive outcome,” Anifah said when met before his departure.

The foreign minister is expected to be in Ukraine until Wednesday.

Anifah’s cabinet colleague, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai had already arrived in Kiev together with his delegation for similar purposes.

MH17 was flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur when it was shot down near the Ukrainian-Russian border.
