PETALING JAYA, July 19 — Members of the National Union of Flight Attendants Malaysia (Nufam) are traumatised over the loss of MH17.

Its president Ismail Nasaruddin said news of the plane allegedly being shot down in Ukraine has come as a shock to the union and its members.

“We are devastated over the loss of 12 of our colleagues,” he said.

“It’s only been four months since the disappearance of MH370 and already we are facing another tragedy involving 12 of our members.”

He said as many of its members are traumatised, the union will do what it takes to enable them to go on with their jobs.

“We plan to meet our members to help them regain their confidence,” he said.

Ismail said the association had also contacted family members of the crew on board MH17 and they have been keeping in touch with them.

“We can’t say much about the incident for now and we can only extend our condolences and support to those who have been affected by this incident,” he said.

“Many of our members also want to know what happened to the plane and we have been sending them updates via phone calls and emails.”
