KOTA BARU, July 6 — Malaysia is on the right track in developing Islamic education and finance as the expertise has been recognised by foreign experts, said International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.
Hence, he said Malaysia’s position as an Islamic country should not be disputed by any quarters.
“We need to convince all that Malaysia is an Islamic country. The Islamic educational and financial institutions are well-entrenched in the society.
“Our expertise in both institutions has gained international recognition. No quarters can dispute this. We have developed a comprehensive Islamic financial system, apart from conventional system,” he said after opening a seminar on Islamic education and finance development here today.
On Islamic education, Mustapa said the government had developed Islamic-based education from preschool until institutions of higher learning.
At the seminar, the participants delve on working papers presented by Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia president Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki and International Islamic University Malaysia professor of education Datuk Dr Sidek Baba. — Bernama
