Welder arrested over taxi driver’s death

KUALA LUMPUR, July 5 — A 39-year-old welder has been detained by the police in connection with the murder of a taxi driver at Jalan Pudu Ulu, Cheras here today.

Cheras district police chief ACP Mohan Singh Tara Singh said the arrest of the suspect led police to a location where the body of the 63-year-old taxi driver was found.

“Preliminary police investigation revealed the suspect was a passenger in the victim’s taxi and they two were believed to have an argument over the fare which then led to a fight,” he added.

He said police also found a knife, believed to be used in the murder, at the scene.

The body was sent to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Center for a post- mortem. — Bernama
