Body of newborn baby found floating in ditch

IPOH, July 1 — The body of a baby girl with her umblical cord intact was found floating in a ditch near Jalan Matang Buluh, Bagan Serai here today.

Kerian district police chief, Supt Mat Fauzi Nayan, said the body of the baby was discovered at 1.30pm by the general public who were using the bridge to cross the ditch.

“The baby is believed to be a newborn as the umblical cord was still attached. Police are still looking for those who are responsible for committing such a heinous act,” he said when contacted here.

He said the body of the baby was sent to Parit Buntar Hospital for a post-mortem.

Mat Fauzi appealed to anyone with information to contact the police to facilitate investigations. — Bernama
