KUALA LUMPUR, June 27 — The 1Malaysia People’s Takaful Insurance Group (i-BR1M) has paid out RM20.37 million in claims involving 6,483 cases from January 1 to June 25 this year. 

Deputy Finance Minister, Datuk Ahmad Maslan, said claims due to deaths from accidents involved 476 cases worth RM14.28 million.

“For normal deaths, i-BR1M has paid out RM6 million involving 6,004 cases. For injuries due to accidents the group has paid out RM90,000,” he said at the launch of Protection Gap Study Report by Malaysian Takaful Association here today.

Ahmad said many people who were eligible to receive the assistance were not aware of i-BR1M. — Bernama
