JOHOR BARU, June 22 — A pub owner was shot and killed in front of a 24-hour laundry shop in Permas Jaya early yesterday morning.

The owner, identified as Kessu, was about to exit his four-wheel drive vehicle to purchase food from a street cart in front of the laundry shop around 2.15am when an assailant fired at him. The victim died in his car seat.

The shooter was riding pillion on a motorcycle that came up and stopped behind the victim’s vehicle while the shooting took place.

The victim owned and managed a pub in Permas Jaya, said Johor Baru South police chief Assistant Commissioner Sulaiman Salleh.

He said the police were still looking into the motive for the killing. — Reuters
