GEORGE TOWN, June 8 — It is crucial for the MCA to rejoin the cabinet as this will help its Public Service and Complaints Department to perform better in solving cases, said department head Datuk Seri Michael Chong.

He hoped Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak would put MCA into the cabinet as the move would lighten the work of the Public Service and Complaints Department in further helping people in need.

“There is a need for MCA to put a minister or deputy minister in the cabinet to do the services. The Chinese associations, businessmen are also turning back to us and see things are tough without MCA (in the cabinet),” he told reporters after a talk on the public service and complaints department, here today.

Chong said the 1,973 MCA central delegates who voted in favour of the MCA rejoining the cabinet showed that the previous decision not to take up any cabinet positions due to the poor performance in the 13th general election was wrong.

He said besides boosting the party’s spirit, rejoining the cabinet would ensure that the MCA Public Service and Complaints Department could assist the people and to continue giving good services.

Chong said having MCA representatives in the cabinet would assist the Public Service and Complaints Department in helping and solving overseas cases involving the Home Ministry and Immigration Department. — Bernama
