SHAH ALAM, June 5 — Police detained an agent who supplied foreign workers and his wife to facilitate investigations after the body of a six-month-old baby was found in a ravine at Genting Highlands, at 11am yesterday.

Shah Alam deputy police chief ACP Ruslan Abdullah said both suspects were detained in Shah Alam after the baby’s mother, an Indonesian maid, 33, lodged a police report claiming she had lost her child.

Ruslan said since the mother of the baby did not have a valid work permit, the agent who is also her employer, had taken the baby away, purportedly to be given to his friend.

“The detention of the agent and his wife led police to the location where the decomposing body of the baby was found, near Genting Highlands, today,” he told Bernama when contacted.

Ruslan said the suspect admitted that he had wrapped the body of the dead child and placed it inside a plastic bag before throwing it into the ravine.

The body of the baby was later sent to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang for post-mortem.

The Shah Alam Magistrate’s Court had also issued a remand order to detain the couple for a week.

Ruslan said police also rescued six Indonesian workers who were working as maids without permits and believed to have been exploited as sex slaves by the agent and his clients. — Bernama
