TELUK INTAN, May 26 — Insisting they are the “underdogs”, DAP will be providing shuttles for outstation voters in the Klang Valley and Singapore for the Teluk Intan by-election this weekend.

Ten buses carrying 40 passengers each will be provided to shuttle voters from Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, and a return trip would cost only RM10 per voter.

Meanwhile, 15 buses carrying around 30 passengers each will provide a one-way trip for voters from Teluk Intan back to Singapore for free.

“We would like to once again call on voters residing outside Teluk Intan to return to vote and to celebrate the Chang Festival with their families,” said Perak DAP adviser Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham.

Chang Festival refers to a festival which falls on the 5th day in the 5th month of the Chinese lunar calendar, celebrated by eating a rice dumpling called “chang”.

Perak DAP chief Nga Kor Ming also admitted that DAP will need every vote it can in order to “miraculously” win the by-election.

Nga also conceded that it is important to urge urban voters to come back and vote and they are generally more well-informed and politically aware, and as such more likely to vote DAP or any other Pakatan Rakyat parties.

Buses from Klang Valley will depart from the Kelana Jaya and Bukit Jalil LRT stations three times May 30: at 7.00pm, 8.00pm, and 9.00pm.

They will then return from Teluk Intan at 6.00pm of May 31 and June 1.

Buses back to Singapore will depart Teluk Intan on 8.30pm and 9.30pm, at May 31 and June 1.

Nga and Ngeh insisted that they do not discriminate, and those who support or vote Barisan Nasional can also take the shuttle rides.

The Teluk Intan by-election is scheduled for May 31, with DAP represented by young Malay woman Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud.
