GEORGE TOWN, May 26 — Investigations into a gate-crashing incident at the Penang State Legislative Assembly last Wednesday are almost complete, says state northeast police chief ACP Mior Faridalatrash Wahid.
“It is 95 per cent ready. The police are investigating the case from various angles and so far, taken statements from 27 witnesses,” he told reporters here today.
Last Wednesday, a group of men intruded into the assembly to protest against Seri Delima state assemblyman RSN Rayer who uttered ‘Umno celaka’ in his debate on the Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas’s speech on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Mior Faridalatrash said police received 19 reports on offences committed during the Bukit Gelugor by-election which concluded yesterday.
He said five investigation papers had been submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for further action.
“The by-election was conducted peacefully and many of the cases were related to candidate dissatisfaction,” he said. — Bernama
