Homemade explosive goes off in men’s toilet at petrol station

KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 — There was an explosion at the men's toilet at a petrol station in Jalan Jambu Jerteh Batu 6, Jalan Kepong, Sentul after a man is believed to have placed a homemade explosive in the toilet, this evening.

Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department chief, SAC Gan Kong Meng, said in the 3.55 pm incident, the suspect who entered the toilet was wearing a helmet with a black visor and carrying a sling bag and there was an explosion about a minute after the man came out.

 “We received a call at about 4.40 in the evening. Arriving there we saw three broken mirrors in the toilet including a broken toilet bowl and ceiling.

 “With footage from a closed-circuit camera (CCTV), we saw the suspect was wearing a black jacket,” he said in a statement here tonight.

Based on the initial investigations, police found fragments of drink cans wrapped with adhesive and forensic personnel are currently reconstructing the explosive materials.

 “No casualties were reported and so far the police have yet to identify the real motive of the incident,” he said. — Bernama
