KOTA BAHARU, May 25 — PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang has called on those who do not know about hudud to stop talking about it to avoid confusion among the people.

He said they should refrain from talking about hudud (Islamic Penal Code) for fear of worsening the situation and causing further damage.

“If you do not know about it, do not talk. I’m not directing this to anyone in particular. Hudud is one of the criminal laws,” he told reporters after attending the Implementation of the Kelantan Syariah Criminal Code Enactment II here today.

Yesterday, Kelantan mufti Datuk Mohamad Shukri Mohamad warned Muslims to be careful when giving views on hudud as wrong misinterpretations could affect their faith.

On May 11, PAS made a U-turn by deciding to postpone the tabling of the two Private Member Bills on hudud in the Dewan Rakyat to pave the way for the implementation of hudud in Kelantan.

It also agreed with the proposed establishment of a technical committee made up of the federal and Kelantan governments to review the implementation of the Kelantan Syariah Criminal Code (II) Enactment.

Abdul Hadi said PAS would hold a dialogue on the implementation of the enactment. — Bernama
