Student feared drowned in river

BESUT, May 21 — A university student was feared to have drowned while catching prawns at the Kuala Setiu river near Kampung Beting Lintang here last night.

Mohammad Irham Mohd Rosli, 20, was said to have disappeared after being swept away by strong currents at about 9.30pm.

The student of Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang and a friend were catching prawns when the incident occurred.

The friend managed to swim to safety.

Besut Fire and Rescue Department operations commander, Hasmadi Jusoh confirmed the incident. — Bernama
