KEMAMAN, May 17 — Former Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said said the political situation in Terengganu is fragile and needs to be handled with care to ensure Terengganu continues to be led by Barisan Nasional (BN).
He said should the internal crisis in Umno in the state was not properly managed, there would be a complete change in the next four years especially in the 14th general election.
“If we place our fragile goods in the aircraft, we have to take care to wrap them well with adequate advice written outside.
“We will see...we need to handle properly as I said, in Terengganu, anything can happen,” he told reporters at his daughter’s wedding reception in Teluk Kalong here today.
When asked by reporters what he mean by ‘fragile’, Ahmad said: ‘15-17’ in alluding to the 17 seats held by BN (17) and 15 by the opposition.
Ahmad who is also the state assemblyman for Kijal confirmed that he would not be contesting in the constituency again.
He also advised new Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman to continue his legacy of furthering the party’s struggle for the people.
Ahmad said he did not hope for any post including becoming a member of the exco appointed by Ahmad Razif. Meanwhile Ahmad also expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak for taking time off to attend the wedding reception of his daughter here.
Ahmad was reappointed as Menteri Besar on May 9 last year and was replaced by Ahmad Razif on May 12.
Ahmad Said was first appointed as Terengganu Menteri Besar on March 22, 2008.
Among the guests of honour present at the reception were Melaka Yang Dipertua Negeri, Tun Mohd Khalil Yakob, Ahmad Razif, Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek and Second Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh. — Bernama
