JOHOR BARU, May 16 — Umno Youth will deploy its machinery to provide explanation on the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in a simple way to all segment of society.

Its chief Khairy Jamaluddin said the explanation on related taxation issues of GST on consumers, multiple taxation and exemption should also be enhanced.

“We have come up with a proposal to the cabinet for the GST to be simplified and explained effectively,” he told reporters after a Sembang Santai (Leisure Chat) on ‘GST & TPPA: Roles and Responsibilities of Youth In Economic Development’ at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia here today.        

“We have to overcome psychological resistance to talk about tax. You have to go out over there and really engage in places that are uncomfortable such universities. You really have to engage the public,” he said. 

He said based on what transpired today, students, who attended the programme understood the GST but demanded for more focus to be given on efforts to fight against corruption. — Bernama
