SEREMBAN, May 12 — Police detained 18 individuals including three women in an operation to check the activities of syndicates operating a scratch and win scam which was becoming rampant in the town this morning.

The two-hour operation beginning at 10am was conducted by a team from the Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) of the Negeri Sembilan Contingent Police Headquarters.

State CCID chief, Supt Ramli Mohd Nor said 10 of the individuals were detained at the Pasar Besar Seremban, four others were detained in front of a bank at Jalan Pasar while the rest were detained in front of a fast food restaurant at Jalan Datuk Bandar Tunggal.

“Those detained are in their 20’s and 30’s and were taken to the CCID headquarters for further investigation and detained under Section 420 of the Penal Code,” he said. — Bernama
