KUALA LUMPUR, May 12 — Malay-Muslims are being assailed by agents of “Jewish Zionist Evangelists” out to dilute the race’s construct and erase Islam from the nation’s identity, Islamist group Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) said in its latest diatribe today.

In the open letter to Malays and Muslims in the country, Isma president Abdullah Zaik Abdul Rahman told the group that they were under siege from all directions and being “conquered” in their silence.

“Realise, my people, that our homeland is under constant threat, from all corners, from various forces acting as proxies to the Jewish Zionist evangelists seeking to dissolve our racial construct and bury Islam as the national identity,”  Abdullah Zaik said in the letter.

“As such, fighting to defend the sovereign rights of our race and religion in this inherited land is a religious obligation, a duty of honour and natural right that must be recognised by all.”

Abdullah Zaik neglected to specifically identify who these proxies were in the letter, but has taken aim at the non-Malay communities in previous missives.

His latest and most controversial statement was one in which he categorised the influx of Chinese migrants into then-Malaya as a “mistake” that must be rectified, but had stopped short of specifying how.

The remark led to an investigation against the Isma president for sedition.

Today, Abdullah Zaik said allegations of racism and extremism were ploys to cow the Malays and Muslims from speaking up against “foreigners” that he alleged was out to devour the group’s rights and privileges.

“They want the Malays to remain shackled in their minds and desires. They want to see us humiliated as we watch the rape of our religion, the trampling of our pride and pawning of our country because we are powerless to act.

“If today the Malays and Muslims remain hesitant, eventually they will lose hold of this beloved land,” he continued.

Isma has previously made similar urgings to Malays and Muslims, when vice president Muhammad Fauzi Asmuni urged the group to be “more aggressive” in the defence of its rights.

In a 16-minute clip on video-sharing site YouTube uploaded on February 12, Muhammad Fauzi was featured urging Muslims nationwide to be aggressive in defending Islam, which is allegedly under attack from certain bands of non-Muslims.

In the video titled “Islam diancam, kita perlu agresif” (Islam is under threat, we must be aggressive), Muhammad Fauzi urged Muslims to emulate the Prophet Muhammad in all his aspects, including waging war, instead of just offering the prophet’s message of peace.

Muhammad Fauzi said unnamed anti-Muslim groups were baiting the country’s Muslim majority and causing the current racial and religious tensions in the country.

The Isma vice-president was also investigated for sedition over the video.

Isma is among the Islamic non-governmental organisations that have risen to prominence since the divisive Election 2013.
