KUALA LUMPUR, May 7 — PKR will miss the original May 13 release of its party election results after allegations of delays and voter manipulation forced it to conduct a fresh round of voting at 17 branches.

PKR election director Datuk Johari Abdul said today that polling for 13 of out the 17 branches — Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Kemaman, Dungun, Paya Besar, Nibong Tebal, Jerantut, Batang Sadong, Kapit, Pengerang, Tenggara and Tenom — will take place on May 17.

Polling for the Keningau branch will take place on May 17 and May 18, while Bukit Katil, Tawau, Papar and Sg Petani will conduct voting at a still-undetermined date.

“There are the 17 branches where the polling process has been found to be problematic,” Johari said in a statement.

PKR strategic director Fahmi Fadzil confirmed with The Malay Mail Online there would be a delay in the full results of the party elections.

“The JPP (party elections committee) will release the full results as and when they have the full results.

“Hence the full results will only be known after all the Cabangs (branches) have conducted polls,” he told The Malay Mail Online when contacted.

PKR has played down allegations of vote manipulation and polling delays in the party’s internal polls, with its elections director Johari calling it manageable “hiccups.”

PKR’s last party elections in 2010 was mired with allegations of vote fraud and corruption, which led to some leaders leaving the party in protest.
