KUALA LUMPUR, April 29 — A former state basketball player who allegedly molested a 10-year-old boy he was coaching has been arrested.

The 28-year-old suspect was arrested yesterday near a school compound in Jalan Damai, off Jalan Ampang.

City CID chief SAC Gan Kong Meng said a remand order would be obtained and that interrogation was under way.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 377E of the Penal Code for outraging the modesty of a person.

The boy had told his mother on Saturday what had happened after returning home at 4pm from a training session at a school in Ampang.

The boy and his teammates had attended the training session conducted by the suspect in the morning.

The suspect then told the victim and his friend that they would have to attend another “secret training” between noon and 2pm.

They then took the LRT to the suspect’s apartment, where another boy was waiting. Before reaching his home, the suspect bought them food at a foodcourt.

The boys played video games when they were told the training had been delayed.

The suspect allegedly started to touch the victim’s private parts and molested him, while the other boys were playing video games.

Seven more boys came to the apartment shortly after and the whole group then went to a stall nearby.

However, on the pretext of leaving something in his house, the trainer took the boy to his apartment and allegedly molested him again before allowing him to go home.

Gan said the suspect gave the victim RM10 after molesting him.
